biography 1 of 2
Jeff Horn has been a painter and educator for more than twenty years. As an art educator, he is committed to presenting
the basic principals of representational art. He believes this classic education is a necessary preparation for all
students regardless of the artistic directions they will follow. With a Masters degree in Design and Illustration, he has
remained outside the mainstream of contemporary art.
During the seventies and eighties, his art emphasis remained
draftsmanship. He drew the urban landscape, portraits of Orange County’s homeless, the human figure, and took commissions
in pastel portraiture. Jeff really never found the studio environment fulfilling, and his artistic passions truly
reawakened with the resurgence of the Plein Air movement. The movement recognizes Nature as a timeless subject and
validates the notion of beauty as legitimate, serious art, which Jeff gets a personal satisfaction from.
