Teaching the only Plein Air Oil Painting class offered through a California Community College, he believes that there is a great deal to be learned about light and color while observing nature out of doors which can not be taught in the traditional indoor studio.

While he recognizes the benefits of technology, he believes it increases the risk of disconnecting with the physical world, where Plein air painting offers both the viewer and the creator a more direct connection and experience of nature.
